Safety, Privacy & Terms
Last updated: Aug 2026
HeyFido is built with care and transparency, and we appreciate feedback that helps us improve the service.
This page explains how HeyFido works today, what data we collect, how we use it, and the basic terms that apply when you use the product.
This page may change from time to time as HeyFido evolves. If we make material updates, we will revise this page, update the “Last updated” date above, and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
0. Eligibility (Adults Only)
HeyFido is intended for adults age 18 and older who want to connect with other dog owners or caregivers to coordinate informal playdates, walks, and meetups.
HeyFido is not designed for children. You may not create an account or use HeyFido if you are under 18.
If we learn that someone under 18 is using HeyFido, we may restrict access and delete associated data as reasonably necessary to protect safety and comply with applicable laws.
If you have concerns about a minor using HeyFido, please contact support@heyfido.io.
1. What HeyFido Is (and Isn’t)
HeyFido helps dog owners:
- Discover dog parks and dog-friendly places
- See activity, check-ins, or meetup signals when available
- Discover other dogs and potential playmates
- Coordinate informal playdates, walks, and meetups
HeyFido does not:
- Verify every user, dog, or listing
- Guarantee safety, attendance, behavior, suitability, or compatibility
- Guarantee that activity or check-in information is complete, live, or accurate
- Replace your judgment, supervision, or compliance with local park rules
You are always responsible for:
- Your dog
- Your conduct
- Deciding whether, when, and where to meet others
Activity, check-in, and park information may be delayed, incomplete, estimated, or unavailable at times.
2. Information We Collect
We aim to collect only the information reasonably needed to operate HeyFido.
Information you may provide
- Email address
- Profile information about you and your dog
- Photos you choose to upload, including dog or profile photos
- Dog details, such as name, breed, age, size, or temperament
- Messages, feedback, reports, or support requests you send through the product
- Activity, meetup, or playdate details you choose to create or share
Information we may collect automatically
- Account, session, device, and browser identifiers used to operate, secure, and support the service
- Referring URL, campaign parameters, and basic traffic source information
- Product usage events, diagnostics, and error logs
- Check-in or activity signals you intentionally trigger in the app
- Approximate or precise location information when you enable features that require location, such as maps, nearby activity, check-ins, or Park Trip
We do not intentionally collect
- Payment card information through HeyFido
- Government identification numbers
- Sensitive personal information unless you choose to provide it in free-form content
- Information knowingly collected from children under 18
3. Location, Cookies, and Similar Technologies
HeyFido uses maps and location-aware features. When you explicitly enable a feature that uses background location, HeyFido may process location information in the background to support that feature. Background location may be used to update anonymous local park activity after you opt in. Your precise location is not shown to other users.
If you choose to check in, search nearby places, use directions, use Park Trip features, or enable other location-based features, we may process location information as needed to provide those features.
We may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure campaign performance, improve the product, and help keep the service secure.
We may also use advertising and measurement technologies provided by partners such as Google and Meta to understand which ads lead to visits, sign-ups, logins, or other product activity.
In some cases, these tools may use cookies, similar technologies, or privacy-protected identifiers derived from information you provide to us, such as a hashed version of your email address, to improve conversion measurement, attribution, and campaign performance.
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. At this time, HeyFido does not respond differently to browser Do Not Track signals.
4. How We Use Information
We may use information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve HeyFido
- Power maps, check-ins, discovery, messaging, and coordination features
- Respond to support requests, reports, and feedback
- Send service-related emails, such as login links, account notices, or important updates
- Measure traffic, campaign performance, ad attribution, and product engagement
- Detect abuse, investigate issues, and protect users and the service
5. Sharing with Service Providers
We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate HeyFido, such as providers for hosting, authentication, email delivery, analytics, diagnostics, mapping, advertising, and conversion measurement.
For example, we may share limited technical, campaign, and conversion-related information with advertising and analytics partners to measure the effectiveness of our marketing, understand which campaigns lead to sign-ups or product activity, and improve how we reach people who may be interested in HeyFido.
Where supported by our tools, this may include privacy-protected identifiers such as a hashed version of your email address rather than the plain-text value.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect safety, enforce our terms, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect HeyFido, our users, or others.
We require service providers that process personal information on our behalf to protect that information appropriately, use it only for authorized purposes, and provide protections consistent with the privacy commitments described in this policy.
We do not sell personal information.
6. Your Choices
You may contact us to request help with your information.
You can change or revoke device permissions, including location and notification permissions, through your device's system settings. You may also stop using optional features that rely on those permissions. Disabling a permission may limit functionality that depends on it.
- Request access to certain account or profile information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of certain information, subject to legal and operational limits
- Ask questions about privacy or data handling
- Ask about choices related to advertising, attribution, or conversion measurement
To make a request, contact support@heyfido.io.
Data retention and deletion
We retain account and service information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide HeyFido, maintain the security and integrity of the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
If you delete your HeyFido account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with the account, including user-generated content, except information we are legally required or reasonably need to retain for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legitimate legal purposes.
Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups until they are removed through our normal backup and retention processes.
7. User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit to HeyFido, such as profile details, dog-related content, messages, and activity posts.
By submitting content to HeyFido, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, and process that content solely as needed to operate, maintain, and improve the service.
You are responsible for making sure the content you submit is accurate and that you have the right to share it.

- Attempt to scrape, probe, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its systems
